My girlfriend and I are looking for temporary work and/or house sitting beginning April 07. Any ideas??
We are both involved in health and fitness professionally, having travelled the globe for both work and pleasure. We are hoping to explore Vancouver from April next year, with a view to making a more permanent move in the future. We've never set foot in Canada, so we're playing it by ear!! House sitting would be of great interest to us, as it would obviously cut down our expenses whilst looking for a more permanent solution. Any suggestions, help, or information would be gratefully appreciated by us both.

Very sorry you had to hear from people like Dont Trip....We are NOT all like this in Canada.
Vancouver is a beautiful place to explore, unfortunately it is also very expensive and regular accommodation is hard to find at the best of times. LOTS of people offer to housesit there from all over Canada and springtime is the time when people RETURN to their homes in Van, not leave them.
You could get lucky and find something, but if I was you, I would not count too much on it.
You have skills and seem to want to work, so you should be able to find a job in Vancouver, specially if you are willing to accept to work in a different field for a while if you have to. Vancouver is alive and vibrant, it is a beautiful city, cosmopolitan, clean, with the mountains, the Pacific Ocean, the parks, the beaches and endless possibilities. People are nice and friendly...
Hope this helps and don't really know what to suggest except to do your homework, do as much research as you can, and come prepared with a bit of money so you don't have to struggle waiting for a job and paying for accomodation....Maybe think of camping for a while whilst you try to find work and somewhere more comfortable to live , even if it is sharing an appartment??
