Is it better to book a flight online or go to the airport in person?
I am planning a flight the week after Christmas to see my younger sister who is declining health. I haven't flown since 1995 and then I didn't have the computer or internet. Now I hear some say using a cash card you can book online much easier than drive up to the airport. Whats the better option? I need some advice? Thanks.
Nowadays, most airline counters at the airport don't have people there unless it's 2-3 hours before departure, depending on domestic or international. It is because most people buy e-tickets online, with such we can either check-in and print our own boarding pass at home prior to departure, or at the airport we can print our own boarding pass from the computers set up for passengers. Unless for some international flights when the airline needs to check our visa or passport of a foreign country, the only other time an airline agent help is needed is when we give them our check baggage.
Even if you want to buy a ticket at the airport, you should check and compare prices and schedules online first. Before you go to an airline's website, travel websites can give you a good idea of what's available. Try one of these:
kayak.com, mobissimo.com, expedia, travelocity.
For travel websites, make sure if the prices quoted include all processing and handling fees. For airline websites, make sure you go to the price that includes all taxes. Ask someone to help you with going online, it's so much more easier.
